Sintra is a magnificent and beautiful town located within the region of Greater Lisbon which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 and boasts some of the finest architecture to be found anywhere in Portugal today. The cultural landscape of Sintra and places to visit include Quinta da Regaleira, Pena National Palace, Sintra National Palace, Monserrate Palace, Seteais Palace and the Castle of the Moors.

Sintra's main resident population is concentrated between the Queloz, Portela corridor which accounts for around 82% of the municipality’s population which has been growing since the mid 1960’s. The urban area covers 55 square kilometres whilst overall the area covers 318 square kilometres.
